Theatre workshops

Theatre and English through play

students playing a scene from Shakespeare in class
    Collège & Lycée
These workshops aim to offer students a new and complementary approach to the works studied in class with their teachers. Through practical activities, students learn to speak the text aloud, to address the audience, to make staging decisions, and thus to better understand the author's intentions and the issues at stake in a literary text.

They also gain self-confidence and learn to work together, to listen to each other and to better communicate.

BFI Workshops

Workshops tailored to the BFI Shakespeare syllabus

These workshops address essential concepts such as staging, interpretation, and the performance conditions of the period in which the text was written.
By interpreting certain selected extracts, the students become aware of the stakes of a scene, the performance possibilities, and the different possibilities interpretations of the language.

By putting themselves in the actors' shoes, they gain a better understanding of what a play contains—the silences, the movements, the subtext—and leave the session with tools that will allow them to analyze the rest of the play more closely. They also retain certain concepts specific to theatre that will be useful in their analyses.
